Nimble Escape. The speaker for the squealers can take the Disengage or Hide action as a bonus action on each of their turns.

The Black Obelisk. At the start of the first round of combat that the speaker is not surprised, if there is not already a Shriek within 300 feet, one erupts from a spot within 30 feet of the speaker.

“The Ritual Never Ends.” At the start of each of the speaker’s turns, the reverberating Abyssal words of “The Ritual Never Ends” echo through the minds of all creature’s within 120 feet of them. Two sacrificial goblins crawl forth from the ground adjacent to the nearest Shriek, as long as there is a Shriek within 300 feet of the speaker.

Actions

Multiattack. Makes 2 attacks with their earpiercer and uses their spoken verse.

Earpiercer. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5ft., one target. Hit: 6 (1d6+3) piercing damage, 10 (1d10+5) necrotic damage, and 4 (1d8) psychic damage. The target must make a DC 17 Constitution saving throw or become Deafened until the end of their next turn.

The Spoken Verse. Ranged Spell Attack: The target must make a DC 17 Charisma saving throw. On a failure, they take 12 (2d6+5) necrotic damage and become cursed, and on a success they take half as much damage and suffer no curse. When a creature who is cursed by the spoken verse deals damage, the amount of damage it deals is absorbed by the nearest Shriek’s Basin of Souls as soul fragments. A creature may repeat the saving throw at the end of each of their turns, breaking the curse on a success.

A Curtain of Death (1/Day). The speaker recites words of dark power. A Shriek erupts from the ground from a spot within 30 feet of the speaker. The new obelisk links with the nearest Shriek to it, so long as it is within 300 feet of it. Souls from the two Shrieks start darting back and forth, creating a wall of necrotic energy that occupies a straight line that is 5 feet thick and 20 feet high. The wall is heavily obscuring. Passing through the wall deals 4d8 necrotic damage to a creature. The Basin of Souls from the pre-existing shriek is reduced by half, and the new shriek’s Basin of Souls is increased by the amount the pre-existing one was reduced. The wall persists until one of the shrieks starts a new round with no soul fragments in its basin, until one of the obelisks falls inert, or one is destroyed.

Reactions

Font of Unlife. If there is a Shriek within 300 feet whose Basin of Souls falls to 0 soul fragments, the speaker may siphon 1 HP from every creature within 30 feet of them, including themself. For each point of HP drained this way, 1d2 soul fragments are added to that Shriek’s Basin of Souls.

Matched Sacrifice. When soul fragments would be added to a Shriek’s Basin of Souls, the speaker may take the amount of soul fragments as damage and double the number of soul fragments being added to the basin.
